59th Annual SAFE Symposium COVID-19 Protocol Announcement

Forwarded on behalf of Ebby Bryce, 2021 SAFE Association President.

Dear SAFE Association Members and 2021 Symposium Attendees,

Due to the recent spikes in COVID-19 infections in the United States and around the world, a Special Board of Directors meeting was recently held to discuss the SAFE Association’s COVID-19 protocols relating to the upcoming 2021 SAFE Symposium.

This message is to inform you that the Board of Directors voted to implement the following protocols during the 59th Annual Symposium to be held at the Mobile Convention Center, Mobile, AL November 2-4, 2021:

  • Wearing of face masks will be required when moving about the Symposium Floor and Exhibit Hall. Masks may be removed when in your exhibit booth with folks you work with or are comfortable with and is acceptable by all parties in the group. Masks may also be removed when eating or drinking but must be put back on when not actively eating or drinking in a public setting.
  • Proof of full COVID vaccination or a negative COVID test must be shown at initial check in. This will clear the attendee to enter any area being used by SAFE to include the technical sessions and Exhibit Hall for the entire week. A picture or the hard copy of your CDC COVID 19 Vaccination Record Card is acceptable. Negative COVID tests must be completed within three (3) days of entry to any area being used by SAFE for the Symposium and must be an "administered" test (home self-tests are not acceptable).
  • Green, yellow, and red wrist bands and a face mask will be handed out in your Symposium Welcome Bag. Basically, wearing a green wristband alerts fellow attendees that handshakes, high-fives, and/or hugs are acceptable. A yellow wristband alerts others that elbow daps are acceptable. A red wristband alerts others that you prefer that they stay 6 feet away.

There will be additional meetings collocated with this year’s SAFE Symposium. Although we cannot require attendees of those meetings meet these protocols, we highly encourage attendees of the Joint Industry Day event, the CAP/PAD Industry Summit, Aircrew Flight Equipment Chief’s Executive Council, and the Aircrew Protection Executive Council follow these protocols.

Additionally, anyone attending both the Symposium and any of these additional meetings will be required to meet the protocols established for SAFE Symposium.

The SAFE Association is working diligently to implement processes that will make it as easy as possible for attendees to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or proof of a negative COVID test within the timeframe specified above. For added confidence, any vaccination status recorded by the Association will be kept confidential and will be disposed of at the conclusion of the symposium. And lastly, the SAFE Association will do everything possible to ensure everyone is comfortable with and confident that the SAFE Association is taking the steps necessary to ensure the safety of everyone attending this year’s meetings and events.

Thank you all for your attention and please do not hesitate to contact myself at ebryce@ced.us.com, our Administrator, Stacy Stuber at admin@safeassociation.com, or our Symposium Committee Chair, Nicole Stefanoni at nicole@lifesupportintl.com if you have additional questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Ebby
